Displaying at the Bluestone gallery

I’m hugely proud and pleased to be displaying some of my pieces, originals and prints at the Bluestone Gallery in Devizes, Wiltshire.

The Bluestone Gallery was established in May 2000 and is recognized as one of the foremost craft galleries in Wiltshire and the South West.

So many gorgeous pieces of art, ceramics, textiles and jewellery. Whenever I go in I always want to buy something.

Go take a look for yourself, easy car parking close by.

They said some very nice things:

There is a particular character to every landscape, and the area around Devizes has, I think,  a special one. I would think that wouldn’t I? The downs and vales are big, wide open spaces, not heavily wooded, sometimes gently rolling, then ending abruptly in steep bluffs. The whole area is steeped in ancient history, dotted with burial barrows, boasting ancient stone circles, timeless. To express or capture some of this mystery, sense of time and space, the essence of the place, is not easy to do in a small two-dimensional work of art. Becky Borthwick, in my opinion, triumphs. Her quiet textile pictures, and the little watercolours, are some of the most expressive and quietly arresting work we have shown for a long time.

Hackpen Hill I – my first commission!

I was commissioned by Sue in early 2019 and was a lovely journey and experience involving Sue along the way as the project developed.

Sue was kind enough to say a few words about her finished piece of art:

“I have known Bex’s work for years and always admired her eye for the animal form which she presents in a very physical way.

Her landscape abstract work works holds this deep knowledge of the contours of nature which was already evident in her studies and sculptures of hares and horses.

Bex and I have shared a love of the amazing landscape we have around Marlborough, a love she wove into this amazing artwork she created for me.

She generously listened to my thoughts about what I’d like to see in the work and the schemes of colours I would prefer.

A stunning and clever piece!
